Biography
A Hong Kong-born young pianist who learned the instrument at the age of 3. Jenny moved to the United Kingdom at the age of 13, and continued her music journey in York, where she discovered her enthusiasm in ensemble piano playing from her extensive work with chorus and dancers. Having studied her Bachelor Degree in Music (Advanced Performance) in Goldsmiths College, University of London with the tutelage of Maria Krivenski and Professor Alexander Ivashkin, she then achieved two Masters Degrees in Piano Accompaniment (Guildhall Artist) at the Guidlhall School of Music and Drama with two scholarships offered by the Guildhall School Trust. She studied the piano with Caroline Palmer and Pamela Lidiard. There she was professionally trained as an accompanist under Professor Robin Bowman and Graham Johnson. She performed in many recitals and masterclasses by leading pianists such as Malcolm Martineau, Martin Katz and Helmut Deutsch.
She is currently working at the Guildhall School as a professional accompanist, specializing in contemporary music, vocal as well as instrumental. Having the expertise of collaborating with saxophone and violin, she has worked extensively with Timothy Sun and Kitty Cheung as a duo ensemble. She performs actively as a chamber musician. As the founding member of the trio group ‘Contrast’, Jenny is constantly in demand for new music by commissioning contemporary composers’ work and rearranging existing compositions. The trio group regularly performs in the UK, as well as in their homelands Hong Kong and Macau.
Jenny participated in many music festivals in the UK, such as the annual
Croydon Music Festival where she was the finalist in the competition, as well
as the 2007
Needlemakers Competition in London. She also performed in many of the best UK
venues such as Queen Elizabeth Hall, Regent Hall and York Minster. In addition,
she has appeared in radio and newspapers interviews including South China
Morning Post and the London Chinese Radio.
